Super Bowl 48 After Effects

photo: Wikipedia.org
Well, it’s been a couple of weeks since Super Bowl 48 has taken place and hear are some after effects since Denver and Seattle played. Many viewers have stated the Super Bowl was not interesting because it was a blow-out win for Seattle. Many have said they feel bad for Peyton Manning because he could not get the coveted Super Bowl win. Whether you loved the game, hated the game, or felt indifferent, this is my take…

Watching this Super Bowl allowed me to understand one thing about the NFL, media, and the fans…you can never underestimate anyone. On any given Sunday, anything can happen. The national media built a legacy for Peyton Manning before the Super Bowl even took
place. I am sure the Seahawks players’ and staff saw this and wanted to make sure to get everyone’s attention.

According to Sports Yahoo.com, CB Richard Sherman felt the Broncos did not do their due diligence when it came to studying film. Sherman stated, “A good offense that has really studied film and really done its due diligence will see plays that other teams have had success with and install them as a surprise…”

People may hate to admit it, because many hate when a person like Sherman talks so much, but Sherman is absolutely correct. Maybe the Denver Broncos were sipping on their own "Kool-Aid" too much. Clearly, the Broncos did not give the Seahawks the credit that they deserved.

It was a shame because everyone assumed the Broncos were going score a good amount of points. At least a point total in the 20’s. No one assumed eight points or anything below 10 points outside a true, die hard, Seahawks fan. The Broncos seemed to come in with their game plan of doing what they did all year long. All year long the points rang up for the Broncos at 37.9 points per game in 2013, according to NFL.com. Maybe because the best ranked defense they played all season was the Houston Texans, since they ranked sixth overall at the end of 2013, according to NFL.com.

Had the Broncos staff decided to implement a new game plan with two weeks of preparation, maybe things would have been different. With all the respect we give Peyton as the smartest QB of all time, I think the game plan did not do Peyton or the team any justice for Super Bowl 48.

Yes, hindsight is 20/20 and it is so much easier to see things after the game is over. The only issue I have is the fact that this is the Super Bowl. No one should come unprepared for the biggest game on the planet, but everyone would agree the Broncos were not prepared for that blowout.

The Seahawks defense hit hard and they hit hard on every single play. No matter what receiver caught a pass for the Broncos, a Seattle defensive back was tattooing them. According to NFL.com, in an interview prior to Super Bowl 48, WR Demaryius Thomas for the Broncos for some reason mentioned how he liked getting hit, "It don't bother me…I like getting hit.” I think the Seahawks took that to heart and made sure each player felt the wrath.

Hopefully, NFL will teams and individual players will see situations like this and understand you must study the film to be a great player. I do understand that not every player is about truly learning the fundamentals of the game. Many are out for the ladies and the money, but in order to give true entertainment you need to study your script to give an Oscar winning performance.

To the Super Bowl 48 champion Seahawks, well done!
