Seattle Seahawks! Scary or Not Scary?

People may not be paying attention, but the Seattle Seahawks and their newly designed logo by NIKE, could be the most dangerous team in the post season (playoffs).

Let’s take a look at a snapshot of the Seattle’s schedule courtesy of ESPN.com

Over the last 3 weeks, the Seahawks are scoring an average of 50 points per game.  With a high scoring offense and a hard hitting, athletic defense, the Seahawks are a team that no one wants to play in the post season.

Now some non-believers may say the 10-5 Seahawks are really not as good as advertised.  I think it just depends on which team you want to believe in.  If you take a closer look at their schedule, you will notice a difference in 7 of 7 games won at home as opposed to 3 of 8 games won on the road.  Do you believe in the team that is unbeatable at home?  Or do you believe in the team that has trouble winning on the road?

Head Coach - Pete Carroll
Head coach Pete Carroll is just the type of spirited coach to lead a Seattle franchise in a spirited city.  You can just tell the type of fans Seattle has the way they support their team.  This city has been waiting for this type of team since the Seahawks lost to the Steelers in Super Bowl XL (40), according to NFL.com.  Carroll had two previous unsuccessful runs in the NFL during the 1990’s with the Jets and Patriots, according to Pro FootballReference.com.

QB - Russell Wilson
This team is lead by a rookie QB flying under the radar for rookie of the year.  His name is Russell Wilson.  Wilson was born in Richmond, Virginia and he attended the Collegiate School in Richmond.  Wilson’s college career spanned from North Carolina State University to the University of Wisconsin where the world saw Wilson perform.

Wilson is a humble young man, but if you follow his Twitter page, you will find that Russell believes in himself.  Wilson has titled his Twitter page 'DangeRussWilson'.  Russell knows how dangerous he can be.  Wilson along with the tenacious running back Marshawn Lynch is a force to be reckoned with for years to come.

The post season for the Seahawks will come down to the San Francisco 49ers with a record of 10-4-1 against the Arizona Cardinals and the 10-5 Seahawks against the St Louis Rams.  If the 49ers win, they could either host a 1st round bye or host a wildcard game depending on a Green Bay victory or loss.

Right now, the following 3 teams have the capability to receive the 2nd seed and a 1st round bye in the NFC behind the Atlanta Falcons:

  1. The Packers control their destiny.  If they win, they host a 1st round bye.  If Packers lose they open the door for the 49ers and the Seahawks.
  2. The 49ers are 2nd in line to receive a 1st round bye.  If the Packers lose, the door opens for the 49ers to receive a 1st round bye.  They just need to win.
  3. The Seahawks are 3rd in line to receive a 1st round bye.  If the Packers and the 49ers lose, the door opens for the Seahawks to receive a 1st round bye.  They just need to win.
All of the NFC scenarios will be interesting to see.  We will find out everything we need to know around 8 pm Eastern Standard Time today.

If the Seahawks somehow get a 1st round bye this dangerous and scary team could have an easy road to the NFC championship.  If the Packers win and get the 1st round and the 49ers win to host the wildcard game, the Seahawks may not be so scary.

We will see….
