The Richmond Economic
Development Company forked over close to $11 million where the Skins forked
over $0.00, according to Pro Football Talk.com Owner Dan Snyder and the Skins
will ride the wave of RG3 and his humungous popularity to cash in on this opportunity.
The initial deal of $10.8
million may cost the local development company up front, but the city of
Richmond is expected to receive an estimated $8.5 million annually. Bons Secours Hospital created this $40 million adventure for Redskins camp, according to The Richmond Times Dispatch. Richmond Mayor, Dwight C. Jones, stated "We have a bold and exciting plan to
put Richmond on the map with one of the most state-of-the-art NFL training camp
facilities in the entire country,"
Bons Secours pays $3 million
for facility naming rights for three weeks each year for eight years, accordingto Richmond Biz Sense.com. Bons Secours is a non-profit hospital worth over $3
billion.
The Skins found a way to
make a little cash on the side. Smart partnership. Other NFL teams should take
note.
