Steel Getting It Done

From the top of the organization, to the head coach, down to the players, the Steelers know how to get the job done.  Getting it done in the NFL means consistently making the correct decisions in an organization.

Coach - Mike Tomlin
No matter what anyone says, the Pittsburgh Steelers know how to get the job done.  Right now, the Steelers are doing what it takes to win football games.  The Steelers have lost to teams like the Cleveland Browns.  Oh boy…Cleveland?  But, the Steelers are coached so well they know how to hide their flaws.

Coach Mike Tomlin was hired in 2007 as only the 3rd head coach for the Steelers in over the last 40 years.  In 5 years, Tomlin has appeared in 2 Super Bowls winning 1.  Tomlin has only missed the playoffs 1 year in his 5 years of coaching folks.  1 year.  Tomlin is doing something right.

Currently, the Steelers are doing everything necessary
to win ball games.  On Sunday, December 2, 2012, the Steelers took their number 1 ranked defense into their hated rival’s stadium, the Baltimore Ravens and won a big, big game.

QB # 6 - Charlie Batch
The scrambling talent of “Big” Ben Roethlisberger did not
win this game.  The backup QB’s big arm of Washington, DC’s, Byron Leftwich, did not win the game.  The game was not won by a great defensive play like an interception by the great Troy Polamalu.  The game was won on the arm of the 3rd string QB by the name of Charlie Batch.  Yes, Charlie Batch.  Charlie is still in the league and Charlie delivered against a division rival.

If you follow sports betting/gambling, the Steelers were favored to lose this game on the road to the Baltimore Ravens by 7 points.  The Steelers lost on the road 7 days prior to another division rival named the Cleveland Browns.  The Browns have a record of 4-8 and the Steelers were favored to beat the Browns.  Knowing all of this, every media outlet in America, besides Pittsburgh, picked the Ravens to easily punish Charlie Batch and the Steelers.

I can tell you this…due to the coaching mentality and heart of the Steeler players, the Steelers came into Baltimore ready for a 12 round heavyweight fight.  The Steelers fought for the full 12 rounds and the 37 year old Batch placed the “Steel Curtain” in a place to win the game.  The game was finished with a closing field goal kick by Shaun Suisham to break the tie at 20 and win 23-20.

The final handshake to the end the game by Mike Tomlin gave an indication of a tough Pittsburgh Steeler mindset.  When Steeler players see this hand shake clip, they will know that their coach means business.  The players will also know where the coach stands for the remainder of the season.
Steeler Fans

If the Steelers make the 2012-2013 playoffs, please understand that coach Mike Tomlin is the leader who will lead by example.  Whether you like his end of the game handshake or not, Tomlin sends a message to his players that he is not to be taken lightly.

Good luck Steeler fans!
