What To Do With Andy Reid of the Eagles?

Can anyone out there make sense of the Andy Reid situation in Philly?

According to Pro Football Reference.com, in 14 years with the Philadelphia Eagles, Andy Reid has a staggering coaching history.  Before we go any further, let’s take a brief look at his resume:
Coach - Andy Reid

1020 Pattison Avenue
Philadelphia, PA 19148
  • 11 winning seasons
  • 1 Super Bowl appearance
  • 5 NFC Finals/Championship appearances
  • 7 NFC East/Division championships
Folks, this is a very impressive resume that could land Reid a job anywhere, but will it be enough to keep Reid in Philly?

Garrett...Walk By FAITH & Not By SIGHT

Is this a bible verse?

Previous Cowboys Coach - Jimmy Johnson
Head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Garrett, is trying to follow in the footsteps of his mentor Jimmy Johnson.  During an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, Jimmy was quoted as saying

"The No. 1 motivator (in the NFL) is fear. Fear of maybe letting down your teammates or being embarrassed or chastised or fear of losing your job,"  Also, "Where is the fear in Dallas? There is no fear in Dallas. It's a country club where everybody is buddies."

This is all true.  This was the coach who

The No Huddle Fast Break is Needed for the Cowboys

I know many of you may be asking…what is the No Huddle Fast Break?

It does not make any sense?

My definition of the No Huddle Fast Break is an offensive football team that runs a “no huddle offense” or a “hurry up offense” like a fast break is run in basketball.

The Dallas Cowboys are in desperate need of a fast break style of offense.  For most of the 2012 season, Jason Garrett has run the normal offense by slowing the offense down.  He slows it down by going back to the huddle after each offensive play.  With this style, the team lacks the necessary drive to play consistent.  Basically, they slow down like a half court style of offense in basketball.

Whenever you have offensive fire power, you must utilize what you have.  The 1980’s Los Angeles Lakers team with Ervin ‘Magic’ Johnson, James Worthy, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and others were a potent offensive team.  The Lakers ran the showtime offense lead by Magic.

In no way am I saying that the Cowboys are the 80’s Lakers, but

Who's This Guy?

#52 - Ray Lewis
Too many times I sit and watch football or basketball games and I say to myself, “Who let this this guy on the field or the court?  He’s just playing for a paycheck.”  Every one has asked this question at some point in time while watching a game, so I know it's not me.

I will ask any person who loves sports this single question...

What is the difference between the superstar athletes of their respective professional sports and the other players?

NY Giants Should Follow Jay-Z

When I look at the business side of the NFL, there are some things that truly blow my mind.  If I were a general manager and I had a player like wide receiver Victor Cruz, I would make sure to lock him up (sign him) with a contract as soon as possible.

Jay-Z
As for the NY Giants, I say they should follow Jay-Z’s format because Jay is signing Cruz to an entertainment deal, according to the NY Daily News.  Cruz is currently signed to IMG, but the report states Jay will manage the entertainment side.  Is that after his contract is up with IMG or will Jay co-manage with IMG?  Not quite sure, but either way the Cruz brand is taken care of for the moment.

#80 - Victor Cruz
Cruz is one of the most dynamic players at the wide receiver position today.  When I say dynamic, I mean Cruz can play the inside receiver position (slot) as well as the outside.  Cruz can turn a 3-yard pass into a 70-yard gain in just a few seconds.  True, Cruz is much better at the slot position because of his size, but he is still a weapon for the Giants.

Senior Vice President and General Manager, Jerry Reese and the Giants front office have to be working something out I would assume.  Cruz is currently in the final year of his contract making

Lakers Need A Coach & Players

Coach - Mike Brown

As of November 9, 2012, the Lakers decided to part ways with former head coach Mike Brown.  Basically, they fired him for poor on the job performance.  Brown's employee evaluation came much sooner than the normal and no one seriously expected.  There were many complaints from fans, but hey...it was only four games.  It is very hard for new members of a new team to gel instantly without playing together in the offseason.  Maybe they can or maybe they can't do it, but we will soon see..

Was this a great move by the Laker's organization?

Would you as an owner fire a guy 4 games into an 82 games season?

Was there a true backup plan for this or does this firing make sense at all?

Cowboy Woes in All 3 Phases

The Dallas Cowboys had and currently have problems in all 3 phases of the game.  The biggest problem is that these issues have loomed over the Cowboys for almost a decade.  Head coach Jason Garrett has not managed to figure out how to make all phases of the game click at the same time.  Can anyone tell me if this makes sense?

Below is a breakdown of the Cowboys problematic phases:

Offense
#77 - Tyron Smith
One Year the offense can run the ball and the next year they cannot.  So far in the 2012 season, the Boys have had trouble running the ball due to an offensive line with no consistency.  There are two new starters at left and right guard and two tackles playing opposite positions.  First round pick in 2011, Tyron Smith from USC, moved from the right side over to the left side to protect Tony Romo’s blind side.  While Smith moved from the right to the left, Doug Free moves from the left to the right side.

  • Running Game
The running game has been next to nothing in the 2012 season.  In the off- season, the Cowboys hired Offensive Coordinator, Bill Callahan.  Head Coach, Jason Garrett, stated he will still call all of the plays.  Callahan was only brought in to coach the offensive line.  There has not been a threatening running back (RB) for the Boys since

Do NFL Players Understand Life After Football?

When I was thinking about creating a post for the business side of the NFL a few things came to mind.  How much money the NFL makes, what players have benefited from NFL marketing, who are the current stars to make the NFL successful and so on.  One of the biggest things I thought about was making sure to protect the investment.  For me the investment is the players.  I want to make one thing clear…the NFL and the NFL Player’s Association (NFLPA) are not responsible for player’s actions, because these players are paid as employees.  Even though the NFL and NFLPA are not responsible, I could see a company created to protect the players outside of an NFL agent’s position.

An enormous amount of NFL players graduate or leave college early with no true understanding of what life is like after football.  Below are three (3) things that came to my mind about many, not all, but many NFL players:
